Mark your calendars to reserve February 27, 2010, for the
91st annual Baile de las Flores,
the oldest charity event in Tucson and signature event of the St. Luke’s Board of Visitors.
The Board of Visitors presented
the first Baile in 1919 in support of St. Luke’s Sanitarium. Ladies wore beautiful Mexican
ball gowns and the men were in black tie. Today the tradition continues with a fiesta theme
where guests don colorful attire. Mariachis and ballet folklorico dancers fill the room with
music and flourish, leading the grand march into dinner and dancing. The event includes a
stunning silent auction. Each year a celebrated artist from the Tucson area generously
donates an original painting to be raffled the evening event. This year, Lucy Masterman
will graciously donate a painting for the raffle. The
2009 Baile de las Flores
was, by all standards, a complete success with net proceeds of more than $150,000 in support
of the residents of St. Luke’s Home.
